I'm a bad blogger

Yea, whatever...at least I can admit it right?

I've neglected my blog once again and honestly it's hard work to make my ADD self sit and write complete thoughts for others to read. I was also in the process of a HUGE trip to Sweden and London at the time, so please forgive me.

I've been back for about a month now and the socially life is calming down a bit, so I thought why not write to my invisible follows and readers :).

So far my summer has been fabulous!

  • I have a good friend that I go to the beach with almost every Sunday and while I mostly burn each time we go, I've gotten compliments on how tan I've been looking. ME! the palest person in every social group I've ever been a part of.
  • My little niece turned 1 and is such a big girl now. She gives a handful of attitude and lets you know what she wants/on her mind.
  • I'm planning on a concert or two in August that would UNBELIEVABLE to attend (both, not just one!) and NO I will not reveal who the concerts would be in fear of it not coming true...I'm a big believer in not jinxing fun times because that usually leads to failure in my records.
  • I'm making VERY good headway on my Netflix account
  • Big Brother has started for the summer!! (I've been a huge fan since it started, just like Survivor and you can judge me all you want-cuz I LOVE IT)

Until next time!

Why I'm a Teacher

I wanna start by saying I AM A FREAKING TEACHER. I went to school to be able to teach YOUNG children. This has been my dream for a while and now that I am actually in the field, I love it!

I love that little spark of comprehension when a child understands or uses something that I taught them, is simply AMAZING! There are other moments too; such as a child seeking me out for comfort when upset, a smile on their face when they see me in the morning, and a blown kiss at the end of a night...those moments make the harder times and the exhausting days all worth while.

Now once a year (this past week) is Teacher Week! A week when parents, children, other staff members say an extra THANK YOU at the beginning and end of the day/week. Honestly it feels amazing to simply get an extra thank you by an appreciative parent.

What does make me feel extra special about being a teacher and about where I work is all the stuff!!! HAHA I'm a hoarder at heart and any extra stuff I can get, the more I love! So what did I get you asked? Well...

Flowers for my co-teacher and I from our Administrators and a note they wrote from our children (it was adorable, about how they don't always use walking feet in the hallway and thanked us for our reminders)

A gift card to a local coffee shop and thank you card from my supervisor

Home cooked breakfast from my Boss

Four cards

Two gift cards from two of my children

A HUGE breakfast and luncheon made by parents (that was SOOOOOoooo unbelievably good!)

AND

Countless "thank yous" for taking care and caring about their child.

Again, it truly is just SOOOOOOoooooo nice to get an extra thank you or acknowledgement for all the work and crap I put up with.

Don't forget to Thank a teacher you may know!!

Serves You Right

Well my rule for my future children: "If you can't keep track of your cell phone then you won't be deserving of one."**

My brother constantly breaks this rule. Just a quick recap; my sister and I did not receive cell phones until high school. We both could have used them in Middle school because we were both doing sports constantly and either waiting for our parents to arrive, asking for a ride from fellow teammates, or making our parents wait. All of which never went over well with us or my parents. So in my freshman year of high school, I got my first ever cell phone!

But oh, my brother he got one of those "indestructible-never-gonna-break-even-if-dropped" phones. Well he dropped it and broke it within one of his warrantees. So now he uses my Dad's old phone and NEVER has it on him, NEVER replies, pretty much doesn't use it, like a normal person would. IT ANNOYS me to say the least. Well Saturday it served him right for not having it on him or ready to reply because this is what happened:

Serves him right....

Too bad and soooo sad for him because I left them at a friend's house and said her boyfriend could have them because the bro never got back to me!

**They will also only be getting a cell at the earliest in Middle school and only IF they are playing a sport to keep in contact with, if not than High school it is!

Short & Sweet

It's Friday and I've got Saturday morning training at work tomorrow...ya it sucks, but I honestly LOVE my co-workers (or most of them) and don't mind seeing them because we generally have a fun time at said meetings.

Last night I was babysitting with my new BFF from work Heather (no picture sorry, you would have one if my iPhone/blogger hadn't erased or had an "error" while saving/posting). Any way We had worked a full day at work and then went over to said babysitting gig for a fellow co-worker. It was great, the kids were a blast and Heather and I have soooo much together. It kinda sucked to get home a little after 11pm only having to get up at 5:40 the next morning.

Uh, needless to say when the alarm went off at 5:40am, I was NOT a happy camper. I got up anyway knowing I was getting out of work at 1pm and I would have to deal with it. I sucked it up; showered, dressed, fed, and out the door I went. To my surprised I walked to my car with my head looking down and found a heads up penny. Now normally this would just be nice, but ever since my Grampy T passed away I like to think that the pennies and coins I find are a little gift from him. Even better than finding one penny on the ground from Grampy, was finding 5 more pennies!!!! I picked them ALL up, cuz CLEARLY they were left there for me :) Thanks Grampy <3.

In BIG news, I Abby purchased my first size 6 dress in over 4years today. Granted, it's a loose fitting dress.... i.e. no fancy restricting zippers or clips, but DAMMIT I'M F*&%$ing PROUD OF MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO in love with the dress and how it fits and feels!!

P.S. Sorry it didn't end up being short and sweet like the title...oh well....Until next time!

Confession Time

SO it's in the title of my blog, so that means I have to make time to confess to my readers right??

I thought so!

So I'd like to confess first that on my drive home tonight, I may have sort of ran into the curb on the turn that I ALWAYS take. Ooops, (or WHOOPS from my FAV movie!) I was being a little ADD and not paying attention and maybe a little blonde moment, but it was a little scary. Not just because of the push the curb gave my car, but because of the thought that if the bump caused any trouble toward my car or left a mark that I'd have to tell my father...and I'm not as good about telling him bad news. Even if it's not big, like my wipers need replacing and the service light has been coming on for a bit now...and that's just little things with my car.

Well luckily there's no mark, dent, or flat tire due to my stupidity/hair color by default.

Lessoned Learned

If I wanna feel good about myself, DO NOT tell my father that I'm down 4 dress sizes (in the waist that is). He will only give a "Yep, that's pretty good" response.

THIS WILL NOT MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD....lesson learned

Next, DO NOT tell your mother that you will help her take pictures of a dress she is trying to sell because she will criticize how you hold said dress and how you choose to take it's picture. Even though your pictures will come out better, she will still try to direct you.

EVERY STEP OF THE WAY......lesson learned.

This will teach me to move out sooner rather than later and not socialize with my parents for a while.... lesson learned.

Tykes!

I'm in a new room this week at work, called Tykes which is about 1 1/2 age group. They are active (to say the least) and very excited about everything! I love it, it was my first day in that room and it went fabulous.

Mind you, it doesn't seem like a huge jump from 2-2 1/2year olds to 1 1/2 year olds, but it is! They are wild to say the least and they scream all.the.time! Well, we'll be working on that one very fast. I'm really excited for a new start, with new children, and a new co-worker (more about my old co-worker later)

I will said, I hated hearing about the returning teacher in my old room talk about all the changes she wanted to make and everything she wanted to get going on...UH! At least I don't have to work with my old co-worker anymore or this returning teacher, cuz that wouldn't fly either!

Wish my luck with the new children!!

Sunday Social

What is your shopping weakness?

EVERYTHING!! Haha, well I am a sucker for dresses. I grew up wearing whatever dress I wanted with whichever added accessories I wanted. Now whenever I go shopping I head straight for the dresses and try practically all of them on. Then I get hounded by the question "where and when are you ever going to wear these?"- Thanks Mom for installing that in me. I'll still buy a dress over anything else :)

What is your food weakness?

Oh where to start.... I'm one of those "if I had to choose one thing in the world to eat every day" I would choose either sushi or chicken. I LOVE both foods and can never have enough of either.

What is your go to movie to watch when nothing is on?

All time favorites would include and Disney movie or 10 Things I Hate About You (Heath Ledger any one??) As a girl that always dreamt of being a Princess, Disney helps me keep this dream alive every time I pop in another video (yea, that's right I said video).

What is your go to breakfast food?

Because I started South Beach I get up a little bit earlier every day to make eggs with ham and cheese. It's a great way to start my day with a real breakfast! I recently added a slice of toast with some Nutella on it- which is a double yum!!

Do you drink coffee? If so how do you take it?

Yes, yes I am. How I take it depends on where I'm getting it from. Dunkin is a French Vanilla ice coffee made with skim milk and extra sugar. Starbucks aways depends on my mood, but it too is made with skim milk and a sugar. And I don't really drink regular coffee at Tim Hortons, but their ice capps are great too!! I like mixing up my coffee and where I get it from.

Workouts cause injury

So YES I have been working out and thus have NOT been updating my blog as I should have been...Bad Abby Bad.

Oh well...I'll work on that one! In the meantime, I've been working out for exactly a month today!! Yea and I still workout at least 4 times  a week if not 5! AND I run at least 1 or 1 1/2 miles a day and walk another 2 miles. That means on any given day I'm doing at the very minimal 3miles, but most likely 4miles!

Yea go me!!

Yea, I just wanna clarify one teeny tiny thing..I've been working out and eater WAYYYYYYY better than I ever have before and sticking to a mostly phase 2 of the South Beach diet (with a little cheat on the weekends :D) and I have lost a whopping 2lbs. *Insert sad song here*

Oh well, 2 is better than none right?? and the more important thing is that I  am feeling a thousand times better (even though exhausting) and even though there the scale may not show it, I know I'm gaining muscle...

Either that or I'll just stay in my delusional world of I'm doing a good job. Hey at least I'm trying over here!

p.s. you can't really see it, but I have a small carpet burn from doing a yoga video- lessoned learned

Day 2

Day 1: Excited about making it through, HA!

Welp (it's a word, I promise), it's been two days and I feel fantastic. No I'm not just talking about being back on the blog world, I'm talking about being on the South Beach Diet. This is not some plug to brag about the fab diet, because honestly it just opens my eyes to what I should already be eating A LOT of and thing I shouldn't be eating too often.

Like I said, I really like South Beach because it lays out the rules very clearly in each stage, what you CAN and CANNOT eat during that phase. It also gives recipes and better choices throughout each phase as well. I'm the kind of girl that NEEDS that kind of direction in order to succeed in making healthy changes to my diet.

Basically, you can eat lean meats, LOTS of greens (lettuce/romaine/spring mixes, broccoli, asparagus, etc.) cheese, yogurt, and milk (all nonfat), 1 serving of nuts, humus, eggs...yep that's pretty much it, HA i'm no expert!! These are some of the main foods I will eat while on the first phase of the diet--known as the detox phase. Phase two, allows all of the above plus fruits, whole grains, oats, but still no alcohol :( booo this sucks, but ya kinda. Finally on phase three, you can eat EVERYTHING insight in portions.

AGAIN this is DAY 2 of this, but I already feel better inside and happier about what I'm eating.

After my first workout on said diet

**Just to clarify, I started this to not only better myself and feel better, but to also hopefully open my eyes more to what I eat and how I eat. I was not happy with scarfing food down once I got home from work and this diet MAKES you think about budgeting my time in order to plan healthier and better meals for me.**

Let's wish me and everyone else who is on a weight loss journey!!
